What and where did you Film?
This is a personal video I made when myself, my mum and my brother went out to wonder into the Thornton Tunnels. I filmed this in the Queensbury area. Unfortunately we did not find the Thornton Tunnels. Instead we found a footpath that lead us too the Hewenden Viaduct
What equipment did you use?
The Equipment I used is as listed below:
- Canon 200d
- Canon 18 – 55mm, f3.5 – 5.6 STM kit lens
- Canon 50mm f1.8 STM lens
- Rode Video Mic NTG
How did filming go?
Filming the video went really well the only issues while filming were both the weather and an equipment issue. I made sure to check the weather forecast in advance, prior to filming however the weather apps aren’t always accurate and the weather itself prone to change at a moments notice.
The secondary issue, the equipment. The main lens I used, the Canon 50mm f1.8 STM lens unfortunately doesn’t have image stabilization. Leaving a really shaky and unpleasant image. However I did try to make that work in favour to the video. Utilizing the heavy shake to add to the sense of the faux-documentary style I was aiming to achieve.
I had several ideas for certain shots. I managed to use a small portion of the ideas, the other shots I had in mind I reimagined and reworked to fit the space I was filming in. I also adapted to the weather, not wanting my camera to get damaged I only filmed for a few minutes at a time.
How did editing go?
I had a few rough ideas for how I was going to edit the video. I had planned on primarily using J and L cuts to seamlessly transition between scenes. In addition, I planned on relying on music to help transition between scenes, helping to fill in the dead space and using diegetic music to also help transition between scenes.
