Strenghts
Live Performance-
Performing live is one of my strongest skills I have this is because I used to perform live since I was 5 years old. I used to dance and sing which gave me a lot of confidence to perform in front of an audience. Performing is why I love music and i want to get even better at it. I also started to learn how to play piano and I played one of my originals and other covers I really liked it and enjoyed it.
Song writing/composing-
I always used to sing different melodies and add random words to it. However, I only started to write songs not so long ago. I really enjoy writing songs because i can improvise and do many other things like write about the stuff I like or been through. I love performing my original songs even though I’m scared others won’t like them but I always get positive feedback and many people sing my songs which makes me write songs even more. Another strength I have is composing songs I wrote a chord progression and the lyrics created a melody in less than 1 hour for my song called ‘Without You’. I love making melodies and creating different chord progressions and I don’t have a problem with writing up melodies.
Improvisation-
Improvising is another strength I have I love to improvise and sing covers my own way i never really perform the covers the original way I always add a little bit of improvisation there. Last year we had to write our own songs as a band and i really enjoyed improvising and creating different melodies. When I’m writing my own songs I always improvise with the lyrics melody and sometimes with different chords.
Collaboration-
During this course I mostly learned how to work with others and help others. Throughout my second project I was helping Alfie to learn the harmony for my orginal song ‘Without You’. However, we did not add the harmonies because Alfie didn’t feel comfortable singing it. I also helped other students and sang songs for the like last year I was working with two different groups and it was quiet challenging because I had to write two songs but I think they both turned out great. I also helped with setting up the live performance. I think that team work is really important because we all need to know how to work with others.
Weaknesses
Music Theory-
I don’t know anything about music theory and I think that as I write my own songs I should be able to a least know something about it. I struggle with reading the notes and reading music as I don’t know what notes are on the music sheet.
