Overall for this project I think that I’ve done very well. For this project I tried to do as much research as I could because in my last project my research was very poor. Recording in a studio was fun however, when it was my time to record I was ill so it was mostly Tom who recorded the band but I knew what was going on and what troubles we had with recording. I helped him to set up but also to pack everything down. Also recording in a band was fun and I also had to write up a new song for Carys and I think that the song turned out pretty well. My biggest concern on this project was probably the mixing because I was struggling to mix Kabeer’s voice.
To improve this I would make a plan for everything and how everything should be set up, this would take us less time to prepare and we would have more time to record and take more takes and maybe the track that we had could have ended up better and I could make a better mix out of it. Planning everything out would also have helped me get rid of the problems we had for example with the bass as the amp wasn’t working so we had to move it to the studio next to us. Doing this first would save us a lot of time because we had to swap cables and amps too. In my opinion I think I did very well on this project .However, there is always something that I should improve on like tell the band to rehearse before so maybe they would record a much better track. Also we could have recorded the track to a metronome.However, I think that for my first mixing I did a pretty good job. To improve this I need to more research on mixing, and how to create all the different effects carefully and how everything should be in place.
