Technology

Technology advancement has changed the live music industry massively over the years. Livestreams of concerts and festivals have become increasingly popular (more so during the COVID-19 pandemic), giving a new meaning to ‘live’ performance. The BBC always stream Glastonbury Festival, giving viewers the option to watch the action from the comfort of their own home.

Technology has also impacted how music is broadcast. Less and less people are buying physical CD copies of albums, and instead use streaming platforms such as Spotify to listen to music. However, it does seem to be going around in circles, as vinyl records are slightly more popular among young people now than they were maybe 20 years ago.
