Project 3 Essay

My essay is mainly about streaming games and trying to help new streamers develop there streaming skills.

Video game streaming started in November 1998 by Domoaki Hamatsu also known as Nasubi (Wikipedia, 2023)created the first to live stream of a video game which he ended up playing Densha de go for 3 days straight. Unfortunately, I cannot find out haw many people watched this stream, but I could find that 17 million people singed in to watch a reality show with Nasubi in it. A lot of people are interested in streaming due to the new generation because of the variety of new content been publish with newer and faster devices. Most people tune in to streams to watch more intense, funnier gameplays or has a general interest of the games they are playing as well as learning how to play the game. (Wikipedia, 2023)

Modern day streaming has risen in the ranks of popularity with the new generation having more access to electrical appliances. People can watch thousands plus more of streams on a variety of sights such as twitch, YouTube, kick, steam, discord and mixer. Many old streaming platforms have shut down due lack of streamers and streamers moving to more popular sights and better contracts. When I have done my research, I have found out that twitch has 31million active daily users (IG and Education, 2022) and YouTube has 122 million daily users (Shepherd, 2023). I have also found on my research journey the longest gaming stream on YouTube is held by twitchy54321 with the astounding time of 28 days 22 hour and 18 minutes (TUBeast, 2023), this consisted of gaming, music and vlogging. The most popular game for streamers is usually a lot of first-person shooters with some strategy games, for example league of legends, GTA and sea of thieves. Some of the most current popular streamers include Ninja, Tim the tat man, xQc and Tommyinnit (DEANGELO, 2023). There are some small risks to streaming such as bad posture which can damage your spine and eyes can become sore and achy due to blue light, but you can avoid these such things with a proper gaming set up with a gaming chair. You can also now put a filter on your screen to counteract blue/white light from screens or you can also now buy blue light blocking glasses which is more of a warmer coloured lens.

Video game competitions are held regularly and streamed live to thousands across the world to join and watch. The longest gaming tournament is usually taken over the space of multiple days playing a variety of games to find the best player or team. They can take place either in set venues or the comfort of your own home. Usually, the best team or player is rewarded with a cash prize or on special occasions a commemorative item in the game.

In my opinion the future of steaming will continue to rise in popularity as popularity in technology and gaming increases. I think top streamers will change as other streamers rise or fall as well as the websites and games will change for the better or for the worst. I personally do not think anything will stay the same because everything is constantly changing in all kinds of ways. In my judgment I think streaming sights need to respect streamers and listen to the community

In conclusion streaming is very important for learning new things and has been around for a few decades and has grown massively so it will continue to grow. One thing that has surprised me is that I would not have thought that strategy would have been one of the top genres to be played whilst streaming. Streaming is neither healthy nor unhealthy if it is in moderation. It can be useful in an aspect of that it can become a job or putting your own image and play style out there for people to watch who may enjoy it or not. streaming and gaming is all about personal preference.
