On Monday 17th October 2022 we had to choose our own monologue in preparation for the audition which was on Wednesday 19th October 2022, the monologue I chose was called ‘The Author’s Voice by Richard Greenberg. I kept on retaining the lines non stop so that it can be perfect. I also used an app called ‘Line learner’ which was useful as I recorded my lines and took pauses when needed, this has helped me to develop my confidence and helped me massively to retain my lines. I also did research on my character called Gene who is a male and that he writes books that Todd takes credit for, in return of being looked after and now against Todd’s orders, Gene has taken a trip outside to gather more background from his writings. And that he wants to be liked by people because he presumes that people laugh at him on the streets because he has an infection. Gene is in his late 20s. The character I auditioned for in the Christmas Carol is Scrooge because I feel like I can develop his character by bringing it to life and show his personality and to play a character that I have never played before. My audition was at 11:46am in B41 and I did my audition in front of Steph and I did brilliantly and fantastic because used a book for a prop and used emotions to bring my character to life and I took pauses when needed. I retained all of the lines and I didn’t even need to hold or look at my monologue. I feel like I have developed my confidence more and I have also been more focused on to developing my character.
