Week 1 – 09/03/2020:
I think that this week has been very successful because I have completed a multitude of relevant research and have started to apply this to my project. Additionally, I have worked well alongside Hareth to communicate with both SORM and each other. One thing I think that I could have done better is making more progress on the workshop structure either by making it more detailed or starting with a detailed lesson plan rather than a bare bones outline. By the end of next week, I aim to have all or the majority of my research completed so that I can work more on the structure of the workshop itself and have a solid plan read to test by week 3. This means that I will research into songwriting building blocks such as melody and harmony and look into the needs and requirements of the clients we have attending our workshop. This will include looking at different disabilities and ways of learning that are best for them.
Week 2 – 16/03/2020
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic and a teacher training day, I only had one full day at college (17/03/2020). This was stressful as we did not know what was going to happen to our projects and had to start thinking about what we could do to adapt to the situation in case of closure. Once the college did close, we had to work on ways to stay in contact with tutors. This meant moving to Microsoft Teams. I think that this move is going to be successful as we still get the help from tutors that we need and are still able to have tutorials. Unfortunately I did not complete much work as I was trying to think of ideas for change.
Week 3 – 23/03/2020
This week has not been as productive as I would have liked. I did however successfully come up with a project that is not too different to my other one and actually challenges me a bit more. I also started to do more extensive research and have found it rather insightful. This will be very easy to apply to the video workshop as it translates quite well into a lesson. I am looking forward to learning all about video editing and production as these skills will help me in projects to come.
