Tutor Feedback:

Lewis – What does success look like? I plan to boost subscriber count to at least 100 and views of the showcase from 1.3k to 2k. This will be possible if promotion and quality are the main focus points.
Statistics are helpful but that covers a small audience, of which we want to expand. How can we do so? I want to make the promotional content more engaging and focused on younger people. Our demographic seems to be 18-34-year-olds. This will include eye-catching posts on Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and Facebook. As well as teaser trailers.
There is a lot of work to oversee, are you going to delegate? I would like to delegate some work as most people should be producing their own edits and recordings. However, I will be asking for these to watch/listen to and give feedback on so that they can be of the best quality. This will happen during weekly catch-up sessions.
Finally, how do you plan on managing your stress? I am going to remain organised by creating schedules at least once a week. I will also take time for myself to do things I enjoy such as gaming or playing an instrument to take my mind off of work so that I don’t burn out.

Nic – Having the showcase online is a clever idea. What are you going to do if we can not meet up to record? If we are unable to return to college there are ways for everyone to record things without the expense and still to a fairly high standard. I also thought of holding a recording session of performances in an open space if college is not open but we are allowed to go out in public. Not only would this be an innovative way to overcome a problem, but could also be a really good promotion opportunity as any passers-by may be interested in what we are doing.
This idea for your project is great because it reflects something that you have already had success with. However, this time you will have fewer people to rely on. You could see this as an opportunity to work with other departments in college such as art to take photos or develop a logo design.
Overall your presentation was good with nice pictures. The health and safety section was well-thought-out.

Peer Feedback:

Thomas Taylor: Strengths – Strong confidence and well thought out points with relevant sources and research, especially in terms of COVID-19 safety and safety in general. Amazing detail with the schedules and problem solving
Weakness – sometimes loses train of thought, not necessary but maybe rehearse presentation beforehand.

Niall Small: Good confidence and presentation skills and good media promotion and good research of target audience and mentioned about how COVID affected everyone.

Self evaluation:

I think that my presentation went well because I explained my plan for the project well, using descriptive language and detailed information on details like the schedule. I agree with Thomas that although I came off as confident there were times where I lost my train of thought, this could have been prevented if I had practiced and if I had kept using my notes instead of reading off of the slide.

A huge strength of mine was discussing health and safety. I looked into many different dangers that could effect anyone involved with my project. This included the big topic of coronavirus but also smaller things people do not notice like blue light exposure and posture that effect everyone daily.

Development Points:
  1. Reach out to other departments in college to ask if they want to assist me in areas of my project such as photography, lighting and media design. This will mean that I am less likely to be let down by the other music students focusing on their own projects and I can help other students carry out their final projects too.
  2. Make plans for a stream from home. This will mean learning how others get on with working from home and assisting those who may be struggling.
  3. Consider using various social media pages, not just solely Instagram. Which means taking a look at my research project and learning more about how to use this to my advantage.
  4. Detailed planning on how to carry out catch up sessions. This will mean thinking of what I need to know, how many people I need to see, what I need them to show me and what feedback I may be able to give to them.
  5. Carry out extensive research to get a good idea on what exactly is needed to create a prosperous YouTube channel and fanbase that can set targets for that.
