Live Performance Event:
For my event concept, I would like our showcase to be held in the same venue as last year but with all new ideas and lease of life. As well as a possible live stream element for those who are unable to make it or are still wary of going out after the pandemic. I plan to hold the main show in college but have various smaller performances in the cafe, foyer and art gallery before the ‘main event’. This can be purely voluntary solo performances or small groups and will really put the ‘show’ in the showcase.
During the actual show, we will have the Level 3 students perform their setlist and us performing ours. This is in addition to the Level 2 students, if there are any. This means that there will be approximately 4 bands in total with setlists of around 6 songs each. The duration can add up quickly meaning we need a tight schedule in order to not run the show too late.
In order for us to build a schedule, we need to think of a preferred start and end time. I say we aim for a 7 pm start. This way, the performers have time to eat and the audience (family and friends of the performers) have time to show up after work, as a standard working day ends at 5 pm. The times will be made clear on our tickets which will be digital tickets purchased on Eventbrite. These will cost around £1 and this money will go towards our ’cause’.
I would like for the money to go towards new equipment for our course. This means that we will be able to afford better instruments and recording equipment. We will also sell refreshments and have donation stations for anyone who wants to further help us.
Live Stream Event:
For this event idea, which we will be going ahead with due to Covid-19 restrictions, I thought that it would be a good idea to do something that cannot be done at a live gig: personal introductions. For this, I thought it would be interesting for different bands/artists to introduce themselves. This way the stream becomes more intimate and is something different, which is why I like it.
