Artist Callout:

This artist callout was a fantastic idea! It lead to many responses across all social platforms and within a day I had booked all of my artists for the Boar and Fable which I was concerned and struggling with prior to this.

Example of Post Scheduling using Meta Business Suite:

It also highlights times of day when my followers are typically most active in the example above you can see that it specifies a time in which to schedule to reach the majority of my Instagram followers. After using this feature for a few weeks I have noticed a pattern (most are active around 3 pm or 8 pm) and this has allowed me to gain more reach and interaction from my audience.

Bandsintown:

Bandsintown is an app and website that allows users to see concerts and festivals that are happening in their local area. It also enables them to follow their favourite artists, which then notifies them if they are doing a gig nearby.

A couple of my booked artists are members of Bandsintown and asked if I would be able to upload the event there as an organiser so that their fans could be informed and possibly increase ticket sales. This was a service I had only ever used as a regular user to find out about my favourite bands’ tours near me and did not even know that there was an option to set up an artist and manager account. This was yet another opportunity to expand my business reach and learn more about promotion.

I have now successfully created a Violet Live Events page on Bandsintown with the festival advertised on it. The only downside is that only 2 of the artists on the running order are members of the app and therefore I could not include the other artists in the post.

Meta Business Suite Features:

Using Meta Business Suite allows me to learn more about my audience and develop the marketing around that. It lets me know when new people react to my posts and I can then urge them to follow my page for updates by inviting them. This has led to 6 new followers on my Facebook page.

Shared by others:

From being reposted to stories by @bradfordmusicscene on Instagram to Bradford Music Network sharing my post on Facebook, I’ve had a lot of reposts from others in the industry who aren’t directly involved with the event. This has meant that those who would not normally see my posts have been able to learn about the festival and has even led to a few ticket sales!

Radio Appearances:

The first radio appearance on BCB I did to advertise Paint The Town. This was a telephone interview. I did not think that this was a bad interview but I would say that I could have prepared better for it. It was a good way to advertise that we had had a venue change and explain more about what to expect when attending the festival. This one was also broadcast during the Bradford and Beyond slot which is BCB’s prime time so I was able to reach many listeners.

This is the second radio interview that I did to promote my project. We created a radio show as the students of Bradford College that helped to promote all of our projects. I enjoyed this because we were able to go into the BCB Radio studios and pre-record it. It was a lot of fun to go and learn how the station runs and a bit more about their history than we had been told on previous visits.

I think that it was a successful show, I received a few messages from industry professionals telling me how professional I sounded and asking if I had ever thought about having my own radio show. As this is an opportunity that I could explore via BCB it will be something to think about going forward but I will certainly use BCB and its approximate 35-40,000 weekly listeners to promote any future events that I put on.

Physical Advertising:

I had 100 flyers printed which I put up around the college on tables and backs of toilet doors etc. I also gave a select few to the venues to hand out at other events leading up to the event.

In the meantime, I also received some posters which were used in venues and I managed to ask permission from HMV in Bradford to advertise there as well (see below).

Venue Advertisements:

Boar&Fable created this wonderful chalkboard advertisement for Paint the Town, which was very clear to see as you walked past with the neon colours and I believe this extent of marketing is why the stage had a large audience.

Brand New It’s On In Bradford Website:

In preparation for Bradford 2025 a brand new website has been created called itsoninbradford.co.uk. I was lucky enough to have my event featured on it!
