Ideas I have for filming locations:
I want to film the band performance videos in B25 because the space is much larger and has better lighting than in B41.
I would like to film my interviews in new places such as on the cobble street, on the grass or in the gallery because these are great places with natural light and will look great if filmed on a sunny day.
If not in these areas, we can film in the TV studio located in the David Hockney building.

Spacing in B25 and Reference Images:

Above is an image of B25. As you can see, it is a spacious performance space with good lighting and a neutral backdrop. We thought that this would be the most effective space for bands to film in because it allows for social distancing and has the greatest likeness to a real stage.
For Alfie and the Bottle Heads, we spaced them out at 2m between each member of the band. We will place the drum kit where Michael is, a guitar and bass amp on either side and the mic stand in the centre where Alfie is.

We then had to rethink this set up for the next band – Millie and the Floor Gang. This is because they have 5 members and many more instruments. During their set Millie and Tom will switch places dependant on song to either sing or play piano. The drum kit will either move to the other side, for Adam, or we will swap Abi and Adam so that the drum kit can remain in place. The guitar and bass amps should remain in place as will the mic only there will be an extra one for backing vocals at the piano.

Acoustic Performance Space Ideas:

Above is the back of the piano in the café. This room is our usual acoustic performance location due to the guarantee of an audience at any time. However, it is not the nicest looking area and has a lot of backlight due to the glass doors on the back wall as seen below:

The next room we looked at was the Green House. This space is wonderful for performances as it has amazing acoustics and natural reverb. It is also well-lit due to it’s windowed ceiling and strip lights. It also has character because of the decoration and interior design, in particular the neon sign on the wall.

Above is the main area of the Green House that we will most likely use. The sofa could be good for filming the interviews. At the time that the photo was taken, our podcast group were using it to film their video episodes. Although I do prefer this area:

I think that this area would have been a better setting for the podcast because it is more homely and has a rustic feel. Unfortunately, this isn’t a good location for performers to use.
Next is the art gallery.

I like this area as it is quite reverberant and comes with a functioning grand piano. The lighting, however, seems too dark to record in.
Finally, we thought about using City Park. This is a public space in Bradford City Centre also known as Centenary Square. Although not feasible for the video recordings, I think it is definitely still an option for our busking to promote the showcase.

As expected, we decided to use the Green House to record our acoustic performances. It is the most well-lit area and comes across as very modern. It also worked well for us on the previous showcase so it seemed like the best idea. Here are some photos of Meg and Lucy’s recording process:
