In the showcase, I believe that I could have presented myself better for my small part in the showcase. I did not look as I would have liked and I feel that it may have come across as a lack of effort and unprofessional to some viewers. I do, however, think that my outro (1:28:00 – 1:29:00) was successful because of its sincerity and detail. If anyone was to watch it, they would understand my role to a basic degree and would know where to look for information about the course and our social media accounts too.
Everyone’s performance in the showcase was to a professional standard. Many of the viewers commented on the live chat saying things like, “I can see successful careers in these people” and, “wow this looks and sounds so professional.” I noticed that everyone’s feedback was positive and supportive.
Some small things I noticed were video mistakes. For example, in a few shots the audio did not seem like it matched the video – due to the fact we recorded the showcase in music video style (miming). It was not extremely obvious and no one pointed it out but I did think that if we had had more time to look at edit multiple drafts of the showcase it could have been that little bit better.
In the future, I would do another project like this but with more time. I would also take some of the feedback that I received from those who watched the showcase and apply it to the project. For example, when marketing, an ex student at the college advised me that DM marketing can come across as annoying or “spammy” to those not particularly interested. It can put people off of your event instead of encouraging them to watch. So, in future event management projects, I will not use DM marketing unless to people I already know will be watching.
I most enjoyed watching the final product during this project because with a project like this, you don’t really see the progress of your final product until it is done. I also liked learning about marketing and creating posts for promotion. This was fun because it allowed me to still get creative in a very organised and time-consuming project.
My least favourite part about the project was chasing people for their work when they were close to missing deadlines. I think that as a student myself, other students find it hard to understand why I should be allowed to have authority over them and this can sometimes lead to them not taking me seriously in certain situations.
