Introduction

In this project we will be learning music theory and applying it to songs, which we will perform at a lunchtime gig. We will then evaluate and reflect on this, applying what we have learned to future projects.

The aspects of theory that we covered were:

• Modulation – key change
• The circle of fifths
• Extended chords
• Skank chords – syncopation (off beat rhythm)
• Major and minor scales
• Simple and compound time signatures
