Section 1: Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Throughout the year, I have learned about many aspects of music. This includes live performance set up, composition using DAWs and recording and performing in a studio environment.
The course has been enjoyable so far but I felt as though the live sound project was my favourite. This is because it was in my comfort zone as a performer. However, I am looking forward to using my newly founded skills as a songwriter in my final project. As although I did not think that I would enjoy composition, I actually found it interesting. Examples of the skills I learned are: the circle of fifths, which will enable me to write diatonically (within a key). |
|
Section 2: Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
For my final project, I intend to plan, deliver and develop a songwriting workshop alongside Hareth. This is of great interest to me because I would like to become a music teacher in the future and feel as though this is a good step towards that.
I plan to do this by completing extensive research into music education and songwriting, using a range of reliable sources. As well as this I will come up with and carry out an effective method of development and assessment. I plan to do this by creating a survey and game to help us understand where we can improve and evaluate how effective our workshop impacts the participant’s learning, who will be music center users. We also plan to learn, perform and dissect a number of popular songs to aid us when teaching theory and enabling the workshop to be more enjoyable. |
|
Section 3: Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
In order to carry out a good evaluation using the Rolfe reflection cycle, I will carry around a notebook in which I will write down all of the problems, solutions and improvements that we make throughout the project. This will occur at the end of each session to ensure that I do not forget any details I may have neglected to write down. I will also set targets for the week ahead or sessions based on what we need to do. We are also going to carry out a survey after every session to see what people learned and what we need to do to improve.
