This video is an analysis of the song Passenger by Iggy Pop. We did this when learning about ensemble composition.
This song is in the key of C major using chords Am (chord 6), F (chord 4), C (chord 1) and G (chord 5) then Am (chord 6), F (chord 4), C (chord 1) and E (chord 3). In the video we said it was an E minor but after further research, I found out that it was actually an E major chord. This cord progression is very repetitive but the rhythms are different on each instrument. For example, the guitar only plays on beats 2 and 4 this creates a feeling of continuity and therefore fits the lyrics because they talk about a journey (“I ride and I ride”). Due to the fact that the 5 chord does not return to the 1 chord means that it feels continuous or never-ending.
