Project Proposal

Candidate Name  Carys Marshall
Candidate Number10608053
Pathway  Music Performance and Production
Project TitleEvent and Project Management
Section 1: Context (approx. 300 words)
Over the past two years on the course, I have developed many skills that have changed my view on what I want to do in the future. These include performance, event management, video editing, planning and sound engineering. This exceeds anything I ever thought I would accomplish when I started the course. Learning these skills has been an enjoyable experience and has paved the way to choose this project because I discovered what I could accomplish to a high standard and still enjoy myself.

In my immediate future, I want to get a degree in music and believe that my personal project will set out a great path for that. This is because it offers an opportunity to develop myself and my skills as both a manager and a musician, which will create a clearer career path.

I aim to build a successful YouTube channel with at least 200 subscribers and a live stream on that channel that can reach a bare minimum of 10,000 views. I will do this by uploading weekly videos and promoting them using various platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. These will require a detailed plan for things such as photoshoots and video shoots for promotional trailers.

I hope to develop a detailed and structured plan that will be continuously developed to get the best out of this project. I want the project to be a professional product, which is of a high-quality standard. I am setting the highest level of aspirations for each and every aspect of the project.

I will ensure the highest possible quality throughout by putting in equal amounts of time and effort into all aspects of the project and consistently evaluating the work I have completed.
Section 2: Research (approx. 50 words)
1. Barker, S. and Cole, R., 2009. Brilliant Project Management. 1st ed. New Jersey: FT Press. [Accessed 8 February 2021].

6. Stanier, M., 2016. The Coaching Habit: Say Less, Ask More & Change the Way You Lead Forever. Toronto: Box of Crayons Press. [Accessed 8 February 2021].
Section 3: Problem solving (approx. 100 words)
Throughout the project, I will be Implementing the use of a notebook to document my project. Especially for any problems that occur. This will enable me to reflect on things I overcome so that I can learn how to deal with future problems of a similar nature. This has worked for me previously. For example, when in the recording studio I wrote down every single problem we had and when it came to evaluation and reflection, I knew exactly what to write about.

Another thing I will be doing is building a risk assessment of potential problems and solutions to be as prepared as is possible by coming up with the scenarios before they happen. In project 1, I used my initiative to solve problems and stayed determined and focused throughout. Due to this, I believe that I will be able to use this experience to understand and achieve my goals by applying what I have learned about problem-solving.
Section 4: Planning and production (approx. 50 words)
To manage my time efficiently, I need to create a schedule. This will mean planning thoroughly for each aspect of the project and allocating time for all tasks that need completing.

Due to the project that I have chosen, I need to consider the resources that I need. This includes: a hard drive, notebook, video-editing software, cameras and assistance from other students.
Section 5: Practical skills (approx. 100 words)
In previous projects, I have learned many skills including management, video editing and promotion which will help me during this project. I decided to incorporate management into a final project because even though I am new to it, it is something that I find enjoyable and intriguing. To achieve a professional level of channel content, I need to use processes such as decision-making to help me get the most out of the project.
Section 6: Evaluation and reflection (approx. 100 words)
As I mentioned before, I will be equipped with a notebook at all points of this project. This will allow me to remember my thoughts and problems that I encountered when it comes to writing up evaluations and reflections.

I want to reflect using the Rolfe Reflective Cycle. This is “What – What Next – What Now”. These require you to think about what happened, what caused it and how will you improve on this for next time? Using this will help me because I will be able to understand exactly what needs to be done. I also already know that this works due to me using it in my final project last year.
Section 7: Presentation (approx. 100 words)
My project will be presented visually. I intend to post videos and images of my work to YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Digital Space.

The YouTube content will be presented as behind the scenes footage and videos of work. There will also be the final performances uploaded as a live streamed showcase on the channel again.

My social media posts will arouse interest by providing visual teasers and audience participation.

Finally, I want to translate my notes onto digital space to describe how my project progresses in great detail using the Rolfe reflective cycle.
