Unit 11

CV research and analysis

What makes a good or bad CV well there are a lot of things that decide that, and I am going to talk about them now

  • Good CV – Professionally-written to impress employers and secure job interview invitations.
  • Bad CV – unimpressive and poorly written CV with no chance of impressing the employer or securing job interviews.

So, what makes a good CV well first it needs to have a great format and layout, making it easier to read also it should have bullet points that are appropriately used, and it should be short sentences also the cv needs to be tailored for the job you are applying for and it is very important to keep a minimal amount of color and design in your CV to improve the presentation and the visual appeal of it, and you should start with a personal profile statement where you talk about the job you are applying for and why you are the person for that position. Next you need to talk about your achievements like a contest winner in that field or something like being a member of a club related to that job role. After that you need to talk about the education and qualifications you have that are required for that job role or can be beneficial in that role. Now you need to talk about the skills you have and your hobbies that can help in the job career and finally if you have any references, you should put them down.

Now the bad CV, what makes a bad CV? Well first at the first glance, the CV looks very generic, dull, and boring, it will be poorly structured, and it will be very vague, and it will not be supported by real world examples also its bad to keep talking about irrelative information like outdated information which will cause the CV to be unsatisfactory and even more if you use a weird font it will cause the CV to be hard to read and bad.

Blizzard entertainment

Blizzard has suffered a 29% playerbase decline in the past 3 years | GBAtemp.net - The Independent Video Game Community

Blizzard entertainment was created on 8 February 1991 but back then it was called Silicon & Synapse and has been creating games for over 31 years and has grown exponentially over these years from a little company to one of the biggest. The first game they made was RPM Racing created in 1991. It was a remake of a racing game from 1985 called racing destruction set. The next game they made was a game I played called the lost Vikings. It is a puzzle platform where you play as 3 Vikings Erik the Swift, Baleog the Fierce, and Olaf the Stout each Viking had their own abilities to pass the puzzles. There were a lot more games but none of them were successful until the game that started it all Warcraft the orcs and humans the first game of the warcraft series it was a real time strategy game where you played as orcs or humans at this point there was some backstory bunt not a lot of but later this first game will be known as the first war. One year later blizzard entertainment released warcraft 2 tides of darkness which was based few years later after the first game orcs lost the first war and were pushed back and now, they came back to try again but this time with some allies but lost again and the orc faction known as horde fell apart.

The next game was something new. Blizzard took a break from warcraft and created a game called Diablo now known as Diablo 1. It was something new because it was a top-down view action role playing game, and this was one more game that started off a huge game series that helped blizzard get its popularity.

The next game blizzard made was a surprise because they went back to the lost Vikings 2 which was a present surprise but sadly it was the last game in this series.

After that blizzard made another game that gave them a boost in popularity called StarCraft which in my opinion is warcraft, but in space so I do not really understand why it gave them such a popularity boost even though it was the same old game.

And finally in 2002 they made Warcraft 3 which was the most popular game they had made with a huge story line and a lot of warcraft fans really love this game because it created a huge world for us to explore now in world of warcraft, but I will talk about it later so warcraft 3 was a game to give us a lot of characters like thrall, Jena, Arthas, and many more. And after 2 long years of waiting on 23 November world of warcraft was released and is still one of the most popular mmorpg games to this day with updates coming out really often and even though over the years it has changed exponentially it still holds a warm place in my heart.

World of Warcraft - Wikipedia

And even though there are a lot more games, the biggest game they have made is world of Warcraft and it is the game I would want to work on because I have played a lot of it, I love the lore behind it and the art style and when making my first 3D models they were all from world of Warcraft or based on the art style

Personal statement for UCAS

I want to join this course because I find creating video games really exciting and interesting. I really enjoy playing video games like most people now, but I have started to get really interested in the technology and methods of creating games. This is the part where I get excited as this is where my creative skills lay. I would like to join a course that would embrace my current skills and move them forward both conceptually and practically. Further to this, I would like to gain a in-depth understanding of the creative industries, in particular within the area of games development. I have studied creative media level 2, 3 and extended at college and this involved games design which I really enjoyed and learned how to use 3D modelling software, in particular Blender and Maya, and I want to develop my skills further. I am passionate about learning new ideas and I feel that I would be an good asset to the course in games development. As for my hobbies, I spend a lot of time creating 3D models in blender and when I don’t do that, I will be playing videogames, I also play an accordion when I have spare time from studying and I am always happy to try out new hobbies.
