Introduction.

Reflection on Last Year:

Last year I pretty much just focused on getting better at singing and learning production. With the help of my tutors I noticed a significant improvement in both fields.

Project 1 was a performance for a charity which was something i was really excited about. It was my first ever performance on a stage and I was a bit nervous but I was more confident and excited for the final performance. I feel like I did an alright job but i got the job done. there were some errors but we managed to recover without the crowd noticing.

Project 2 required us to compose our own songs which I had never done ever. It was a challenge but that’s what made it fun for me. Once Nick taught us the basics I went back home and started writing a lot of songs without caring if they are good or bad and after bout 20 bad songs I wrote one which had a very overwhelming feedback so I saved it for my final project. The songs I wrote for our band got a very positive feedback as well and the manager of BCB Radio compared our song with a Kings of Leon song which just left me speechless. The track I produced on Logic got a very good feedback as well, anyone who heard it loved the concept straight away so it did a lot better than i expected. The track on sibiluis required a very good knowledge of music theory which I didn’t have enough at the time so I kept it as simple as possible.

Project 3 was studio practice which was also completely new to me but I was excited about it. We recorded the two songs I wrote for our band and I had a very fun time recording we did it in minimal time and had an amazing time as well. I got a very good hold on to the recording other artists part as well. I learnt the controls of the sound board very quickly which allowed me to execute the project smoothly.

Project 4 was all about putting music theory together and execute it as a performance. By that time I had a pretty good understanding of the subject which allowed me to keep up with the others and maintain a presentable standard.

Project 5 was a collaborative project which allowed us to do what we enjoyed doing the most. I was planning on releasing my first EP for my final project but sadly we went into lockdown and my work was left unfinished. I was really disappointed.

Lockdown:

During lockdown I focused on getting better at singing so I practiced at least 2 hours everyday but usually I practiced longer than that. I did a lot of vocal exercises and tried doing really difficult covers. To be able to sing in a lower key I tuned my guitar a whole step down and practiced with that tuning which gave me some very fast and significant results.

Aspirations for This Year:

This year I’m hoping on getting to know the business side of the music industry and also improve my singing because I’m confident that I can improve more. I also want to master Logic so I can start producing my own songs.
