LD Systems RF1 Microphone Screen. A microphone screen like this is the go-to for recording vocals. It essentially means you can record vocals in any room without having a vocal booth. It deadens the sound of the voice and concentrates it towards the microphone. This means that the full dynamic range of the human voice can be heard without one aspect disappearing or overpowering the overall sound.<\/p>\n

RODE K2 is the first mic we used for the vocals. We decided on this one because\u00a0it has a wide dynamic range and usually sounds good for vocals. However, when we started to record the vocals, we noticed a hum coming from it. Because we couldn’t rectify this, we had to switch it out for the microphone below.<\/p>\n

Electro-voice RE320 dynamic microphone. We switched to this as we thought the hum may be coming from the fact that we were using a condenser microphone with high gain levels set. Once we switched to this microphone the vocals sounded really good. This microphone is a favourite among recording artists because\u00a0it is a high-quality dynamic microphone and can, therefore, pick up a very wide dynamic range.
