STUDIO RECORDING – OVERDUBS

On the 15th may we went back into the studio to overdub vocals and some guitar parts. This was a very quick process, we didn’t need to overdub many guitar parts and we only did two vocal tracks for each song as that was all that was necessary.

Sonny knew exactly what he needed to do so all I needed to do was hit record and let him perform.

This was a very effective process as we managed to fully complete all of our songs with the overdubs in very little time. However, if I were to do this again, I would seek a better and smaller room or a shied around the mic to prevent the vocals bouncing off the walls and back into the mic. The mic we were using was a large diaphragm condenser. this means that it picks up a lot of sound in a room. An ideal situation would have been a very small room with lots of acoustic dampening inside. But the results we got from recording the vocals in the control room were still high quality and ended up sounding great in the full song. Because of this, I class this as a successful process.
