Solo Performance

Above is the video of my final solo performance. I did the performance in the college art gallery with my band Chapodio. I performed 3 of my band’s original songs; long time, bright lord, and bad habit. I had chosen to perform these three songs as I could easily show off my technical ability on the drums and give an interesting performance.

One strength of the performance was my technical ability. In the second song, bright lord, we had intentionally written that song so that we could show off. I had to use a lot of different techniques in that song such as double taps on the kick drum, rolls on the snare, and also look out for differences in the song’s composition such as dynamic changes and time signature changes.

Another strength of this performance was communication with the other members of my band. Even though I was only being assessed on my performance, I still had very good communication with the other members of my band to make sure we stayed in time and to make sure that we had a tight performance. This was achieved through musical communication, such as fills to signal section changes. Physical communication such as body language to do the same and signal that we needed to stay in time or watch out for a certain bit.
