| Project Title | The Obscurities EP

| Section 1: Rationale (approx. 100 words) | |
| Since I started college, I have been interested in playing in a band, recording music in the studio and songwriting. One of the most interesting yet challenging units for me was the studio practice unit. This was because I enjoyed being in the studio to perform and be recorded, but I also enjoyed being in the control room and recording tracks. I also want to get my band, The Obscurities, more recognized and having an EP recorded will help with that. | |
| Section 2: Project Concept (approx. 200 words) | |
| The aim of this project is to write and record an EP for my band called The Obscurities (of which I am the drummer). We are aiming to record a 4 track EP that is primarily in the genre of hard rock, with influences from System Of A Down, Trivium, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. We want the EP to stand apart from other hard rock bands by having the bass guitar be a prominent part in the music, instead of being in the background. Within our band, we have the main songwriter, Sonny, Who is the vocalist. However, we will all contribute to the songwriting by providing our own parts, and also giving our own ideas to the core song to make it a more collaborative process. Our bassist, Cain, will be in charge of the promotion and marketing side of the band. I will be in charge of what happens in the studio. We are collaborating with another student who will be mixing our EP but again we will each have input into how the EP will sound. | |
| Section 3: Evaluation (approx. 50 words) | |
| The way that I will evaluate this project when it is finished is that I will assess how successful I have been in creating an EP that people will want to listen to. I will seek feedback from peers and tutors, but also assess my performance and how well i performed both musically and practically. | |
