Day 2

On our second day of filming, we returned to the same location as before, this time with only one crew member, the camerawoman. This would ensure that there would be no one to distract us as everyone was focused and could perform without losing focus. Sonny, who directed the video, also had a clear plan of what shots he wanted to get, and how he wanted to look. We then essentially did the same process as last time, filmed all the shots with us dressed normally, then recreated them whilst covered in paint and glitter.

One thing to note about this day of filming is that I refinished my drum kit as I didn’t like how it looked on camera. I stained it from a blonde maple to a dark walnut with a white racing stripe along the middle to make it look cooler.

below are a handful of pictures from the video shoot

This video shoot was by far a lot more productive than the first one. This was down to a few factors. One strength is that we were very organised and productive, we managed to get all of our shots recorded in under 3 hours. The majority of these shots were good enough to be used in the video, there was only one or two that couldn’t be used due to somebody accidentally looking into the camera. Another strength of this video shoot was that there was better lighting. As we didn’t have any lights with us, we had to rely on sunlight, and since the first day of shooting, the roof had been torn down on the warehouse allowing it to be flooded with natural light. This automatically made all of our shots look better than the ones on the first day.

One weakness of this shoot was that we didn’t have a microphone for our lead singer. This isn’t a major problem but since we all had instruments, it didn’t really make sense to have the singer without a microphone. If we were to do this in future, we would have to make a checklist of all our instruments that we need to make sure nobody forgets anything.

Overall, This was a successful shoot as we got all of the shots we were aiming for and did it in a fast and effective manner. If we can use what we have learned for this video shoot, it will save us a lot of hassle in the future if we ever record another video.
