MIXING PROCESS

Below are the raw tracks of all the songs straight from the studio, there has been no mixing done to these tracks at all.

We decided that it would be better, and more time efficient if we had our tutor Ben Wilson mix the tracks instead of our fellow student Harry Farrar. We still wanted someone who wasn’t in the band to mix the tracks as we wanted an unbiased ear so that our own ego’s wouldn’t get in the way of having a decent sounding EP. We chose to have Ben Wilson mix our tracks because he has a lot of experience in mixing songs and he could do it in relatively little time which was good as we were on a restricted time schedule.

He did a first mix of all the songs then let us have a listen to them all, these are the notes I made and sent back to him (note that it says phaser instead of flanger as our lead singer got  confused)

I was very happy with the original mix which is why I didn’t have a lot of feedback to give to him. However, the feedback that I did give to him certainly did make the tracks sound a lot better.

I am glad that we worked with Ben and given the chance would do again, he was very understanding of the sounds that we wanted for the EP and mixed the tracks in virtually no time at all. If I was to do this again, I would be a lot clearer with my feedback, and maybe even sit down with him and tell him face to face whilst he is mixing to make sure there is absolutely no confusion. I am very happy with the audio quality on the tracks after ben mixed them.
