Planning

  1. Decide what sort of solo performance I would like to do and plan it out, bearing in mind that my focus has been on music production for the last year, and will be for a while, whilst also remembering that performing live with software, like Ableton Live 9, is something completely new to me and will take a lot of serious work and effort to do well.
  2. Plan my performance, remembering that I am using this performance to develop and present the skills I have learnt whilst on this course. I will also need to bear in mind my actual level of skill when it comes to this performance as I don’t want to plan and prepare something that I can’t actually perform.
  3. Prepare equipment and material that I will be using to do this live performance. For example, I will need to set up a Live Set if I am using Ableton and I will need to make sure I have the drivers and software I need for equipment so that I have all the things I need to perform live ready for me.
  4. Rehearse my performance and get my self prepared to perform live.
  5. Perform my solo performance, using all the things I have prepared to the best of my ability, remembering to clearly show all the performance skills that I am trying to show through the performance.
  6. Evaluate and document my performance, by watching the video that college will take of the performance and using my self critiquing skills to help develop myself as a musician, producer, and performer.
