Extended Project Concept

For my extended project, I already have a concept that I have been working on since around half way through the second project for this year. I would like to produce, and release, an EP, using professional techniques and practises to promote and network my EP before the release.

Although it is very similar to my final project from last year, their are some key differences I would like to make. The first thing that I need to do is add professional aspects to my project, so for me, I would like to attempt to produce and master each of my tracks to a professional standard, ensuring that it sounds similar in quality to some of the bigger artist from my genre. I would also like to look into using professional distribution services to release my EP across multiple platforms, such as DistroKid or Ditto. Something that I’ve been doing already, but would like to do much more during this project, is networking with professionals in my genre, and the music industry in general. Finally, I want to research different paid, and free, methods of promoting and marketing my EP over social media, and the internet in general.

Doing all of this would also mean that, if done successfully, I may be able to gain a foothold in the music industry, and start to pave my way for my career in music.

Evaluation of my First Project Presentation:

Prior to this presentation, I had already done some research and work into what finding out what I wanted to do. I wanted this project to be directly related to the sort of work that I want to do after education.

Although I had done some research into what I wanted to do, I didn’t write it down or plan how I was going to present it. Mostly because we didn’t have long to plan it before hand. The next time I plan to present, or talk about, my project to anyone, I will plan how I will do so thoroughly beforehand. For this project, I want to be working as professionally as possible, to ensure that I am working to a standard that would be acceptable in the modern music industry. To do this I must be able to present my ideas and concepts as professionally as possible. This will ensure I will be much more likely to make the best out of any opportunities I may get, such as collaborations, or potentially convincing  venues to let me use their space for free, etc.

As well as not having a proper plan in place for my presentation, I didn’t have any material ready to use as a part of my presentation. I would have liked to have been able to use a digital presentation, some physical material, such as print outs of potential promotional material, etc. I would also like to include some of the work I have already done towards this project, such as some of the singles I have already produced. This would have allowed me to properly show my audience what I intended to produce and do during this project.

Finally, I believe that during this presentation, I didn’t appear as confident as I would have liked. For my presentations to be successful, I need to be confident and engaging with my audience. If I don’t appear confident, then why should my audience be confident in me being able to fulfil what I’m saying I want to do.
