Final Performance Evaluation

What Went Well?

I believe that our final performance went much better than our mock performance as, even though we had a much larger audience, we had grown accustomk to the venue, we had run through sound checks, and we felt much more confident and comfortable whilst performing.

  • Strengths
    • We felt much more confident and comfortable performing that we did in our mock performance, this meant that we were more focused on having a good performance than what we might mess up, like we did in the mock, and by doing this, we made less mistakes as we were enjoying ourselfes more and not worrying.
    • Personally, I felt as though I had performed much better during the final performance becuase we had run through our set list before hand to make sure we were ready to play, and I had practised a lot on my stage presence inbetween the mock performance and the final performance, this meant that I felt I was performing at my best as my stage presence is usually one of my weaknesses, but for once it felt as though it was one less thing to worry about and it allowed me to focus on giving an entertaining performance to the audience.
    • Also, another improvement from our mock performance was Sonny’s introduction to our band and each song, as this meant that we were interacting with the audience much more, which makes the audience more comfortable and thety enjoyed the performance much more than they would have done if we would have just got on stage and played our pieces and left.
  • Weaknesses
    • On the night of the final performance, the venue we were using had changed slightly, as it was warmer and harder to see due to the lights being on, and we had an audience, which made us slightly, but not too much, less confident in our performing skills, which meant that we made a few mistakes, but not nearly as many as we did in the mock performance.
    • Also, personally, I felt as though I wasnt completely physically prepared as I had injured my left hand slightly the day before, but I tried my best to recover my fretboard hand as much as possible to make sure i was ready to perform for the gig, and I believe I did a good job as my hand didnt exactly hurt much through the performance, although it did cause me to make one mistake during Free Falling, however I was told that it wasnt noticable at all.

What I Have Learnt:

Running up to this gig i have learnt a lot of things, including the importance of being prepared before a gig as the implications it can have is a lot more than i had first anticipated, I also learnt how to perform as part of a band and how to prepare myself for a gig. Also, I have learnt how to evidence my work for this course through pictures, videos, and this portfolio.
