Primary Research ‘What do you know about House & Pop Music’ Results
The purpose of this primary research was to help us profile our target audience. The questions we asked were designed to show how people from different age ranges and genders see House and Pop music.
The results showed that the people who got the most answers right, or said that they enjoyed the genres, were usually younger. This isn’t surprising as Capital and Radio 1 have younger target audiences, and they play these genres, compared to Radio 2, which plays older songs and genres to appeal to an older target audience.
For example, my parents, Helen and Darren, both of whom are over the age of 45, struggled to name the artists or albums, and they outright didn’t have an opinion because they didn’t know the genres very well. Whilst me and Lea, both being under 18, had very similar results, knowing most of the artists and albums, and both of us enjoy the genres a lot.
There were similar results across all the younger participants in the questionnaire, knowing most of the answers, and/or enjoying the genres too.
