Individual Role & Contribution

My individual role in this gig was to perform well as a part of a band as a lead guitarist. To do this i had to attend rehearsals, mock performances, and other performances to learn and prepare for playing live myself. Doing this has allowed me to learn and better understand how to be a part of a smooth and entertaining live performance by learning how to to transition between songs in a set and how to transition through the different sets in a gig. I also learnt the importance of being prepared for a live performance before hand, by making sure that the equipment works perfectly first time and by making sure all the repertoire is ready to be played by every member of each band. My personal contribution to my ensemble was to complement Sonny’s Guitar pieces and Alex’s Bass pieces with a higher and lighter set of accenting pieces to play alongside them, I also played every solo as i was the only guitarist with space in my pieces to do so, this allowed Sonny to keep the general sound of the song right whilst I played the more intricate pieces over the top.

My contribution, that I did alone, was to learn my pieces at home on my own to make sure I was confident with them before rehearsing as part of a band, this allowed our rehearsals as a band to be focused more on working together as a band and playing better together.
