Bob Marley’s life and career:

Bob Marley (Robert Nesta Marley) wasn’t born into any normal family, his mother, Cedella Brooker, was an Afro-Caribbean woman, and his father, Norval Marley, was a White-Caribbean man, which at the time was unusual as his birth place of Jamaica was a mostly Afro-Caribbean country. This meant that, as growing up, Bob would witness, and even receive, abuse for his fathers colour. As Bob grew up, he also began to find that most people of his complexion were also targets to racism like his father was.

One of Bobs friends from Jamaica, Neville Livingston (Later known as Bunny Wailer), began to play music together from an incredibly young age, they continued to do so and in 1962 they began to start recording their music. By 1972 he’d signed to island records and was releasing music worldwide, breaking the charts.

Due to Bob’s upbringing, he began to follow the religion of Rastafarianism, which you can find more information on here:

Unfortunately, in 1977, Bob began to show signs of an illness, which he later explained was cancer, due to his religion, he turned all of his medical help down, and subsequently, he died in 1981.
