As this is my portfolio, I need to give myself an introduction. My name is Jensen Cameron Barnes, but when I begin releasing my own music, I will use the name RETT3R to present myself. I play electric guitar and am currently learning my pieces for my grade 4 Rockschool exam and already have my grade 2 and 3 with Rockschool, also, I can play small amounts of bass guitar, keyboard, and drums, though I have no grades with these instruments. In the future, I want to produce electronic music using DAW software which is why I chose production for my lessons and my enrichment group as its what I’d love to do in my life, with control over most of the creative process of producing music.
However, during the first project I will play guitar as part of a band performing a 20 – 30 minute long set for a live charity event, run by the year 2 music students at college for the Lost Chord charity. Lost Chord is a charity for those living with Alzheimer’s and Dementia, their aim is to improve the quality of life for those who suffer with these problems by playing and performing music for them, triggering memories from their lives connected to the music, helping them to reconnect with who they are, something that is very difficult to do for these people due to the effect that these problems have had on their minds. The level 2 music students chose this charity as a few of them had their lives effected by Alzheimer’s or Dementia and they have seen how Lost Chord could help, also, the charity is related to music, and so it only seems right to hold a charity gig and perform live music for a music based charity.
