{"id":17,"date":"2017-12-05T10:39:05","date_gmt":"2017-12-05T10:39:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/digitalspace.bradfordcollege.ac.uk\/10577750\/?page_id=17"},"modified":"2017-12-05T11:03:50","modified_gmt":"2017-12-05T11:03:50","slug":"health-and-safety","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/digitalspace.bradfordcollege.ac.uk\/10577750\/health-and-safety\/","title":{"rendered":"Health and Safety"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><u>Health and safety<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Common types of risks encountered within jobs in the music industry:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tripping<\/li>\n<li>Electrics<\/li>\n<li>Manual handling \u2013 lifting<\/li>\n<li>Aggressive members of the public<\/li>\n<li>Working at heights<\/li>\n<li>Fire<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>Reducing the risks<\/u><\/p>\n<p>Manual Handling- Pick up objects by bending knees to reduce risk of back strain<\/p>\n<p>Lifting objects as a pair or group will reduce the risk of muscle strain<\/p>\n<p>Electrics \u2013 All wires should be well managed and tied up correctly.<\/p>\n<p>This will also reduce the hazard of tripping when on stage.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>No liquid should be allowed near the electrics in order to reduce risk of electric shock.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Fire \u2013 Fire exits should be clearly labelled and easily accessible<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The venue should have multiple fire extinguishers accessible<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Working at heights \u2013 If you are at any time working at heights you must always wear a secure harness<\/p>\n<p>Aggressive members of the public \u2013 Make sure you have trained door staff (bouncers) preferably first aid trained in order to deal effectively with the public.<\/p>\n<p>Thankfully at our gig there were no incidents regarding the safety of any members of the public or any of the performers. The venue staff were incredibly helpful and co-operative and the members of the audience were very friendly. There were no fires or problems with electronics.
