Project 1 Evaluation

Overall, our gig went very successfully. We produced a 15 minute gig to about 30/40 people. Our soundcheck went flawlessly and there were no health and safety incidents.

We set up within an hour and there were no problems taking everything down.

Everyone in the band performed with confidence and flair and it was well received by the crowd.

We had a sound engineer present at all times to deal with any problems that arose.

Overall as a band we kept a tight structure with the exception of the beginning of free fallin’ in which my timing was off at the beginning , however I quickly recovered. As this was a late addition to our setlist, I had less time to practise this and if I had of had more time I feel I would’ve been much stronger on this track.

As a band in the future we could look at covering our song choices in different styles instead of creating exact replicas.

Personally I feel that I could’ve improved much more on drums had I practised a lot more strictly with a metronome, as it would have helped my timing and rhythm. This is something that I will use in the future to help me increase my stamina and help me cope with faster tempos.

In terms of gigging in the future, I would love to do more piano and saxophone based arrangements especially within the jazz genre. I would also love to understand how to use a sound desk and how to soundcheck from the mixing desk as well as for different instruments on stage.
