What skills do you feel that you have developed through this project 5?
I have gained confidence in applying makeup and creating hairstyles. I have never worked the textured hair before which I feel I can now do pleats and add pieces to create fancy hairstyles.
Please identify your key strengths of the overall project 5?
I feel confident when applying makeup and creating hair styles as I’ve had good practice on some previous project looks.
Please identify your key weaknesses of the overall project 5?
I struggled with shaping the eye brows and the wing eyeliner. I also feel, I didn’t get the opportunity to learn the dewy look application.
How effectively did you manage the skill building process?
Practicing makeup on each other and on actors gave me confidence as a teamwork and build skills of applying and blending different products. I feel I can take the challenge now to work with minimal supervision, but I feel the time was too short for this project and not enough time was provided to practice the looks to become confidant on the assessment, instead I felt it was just do what ever you can do instead of creating different effect to the look to gain the confidence and feel skillful.
Can you discuss any key research sources which have supported your assessment process?
Youtube and google are the main sources that has helped me to research for my project 5, I have used makeup and Hairstyling book from the library to help me understand and gain some ideas of how to create complicated hair up do’s and watching actors performing on TV shows and Films also gave many ideas about the characters and what sort of look I can produce.
How effectively did you apply the research?
researching on line helped me to create mood-boards and search information about different era Hair styles on google and youtube, which then I practice to perfect my skills. It gave me a lot of information on fashion, the lifestyle of professional personalities. I also gained ideas of how the character can look with different Hair styles and makeup of that era, which then I applied on my Character for my project 5.
What have you learnt from this project which you will take forward on to the next step of your own personal development?
I feel I have become more confident with the makeup and Hair products and its using methods. Practice of Project 5 – creating looks and research, will further enhance my skills with my next project, I feel I can now look more in details of any research, creating looks and how to upload on digital space more in details. I have become a lot more confident to work with my clients, as I have gained more knowledge of the product application,
What have you learnt from this experience that you will apply in your future progression route?
I feel, I am more confident after project 5 research and practice., this will help me focus in more detailed research and create mood-boards with my next project to follow the planes accurately. I feel I can now look in to the future plan more confidently and can now confidently approach clients for my services.
What can you do now that you couldn’t do when you started the course?
I can now use Digital space more confidently, apart from when it stops working and don’t have a clue how to fix it. I have also learnt and gained confidence in how to dress wigs and applying methods, which I didn’t know before, I feel lot more confident of improving applying primer and contouring as before I didn’t think it was very important steps or I just was not confident applying and blending it properly. I feel confident creating hair styles on textured hair. I feel more confident to approach people for my services.
If you were to do the project again what would you do differently?
I wanted to ask my tutor and of course check with the model too if I could do skin prep by mini facial before the assessment to enhance the skin texture, also if the facial hair can be removed especially eyebrows tidying, shape up eyebrows before the assessment just so the makeup application looks more enhanced,
Did you enjoy the process?
Yes, I have really enjoyed project 5. The practice gave me confidence of how to use different products not only makeup but hair too. I have had chance to practice on the project look, this has helped me to get other ideas of making advanced plans of prepping the hair extensions, working out which eyeliner settled better, as had problems with due to hooded eyes, the colour kept transferring on top lid, so settled with false lash and instant liquid liner. . However I feel it was too short in time and assessment for 3 looks in the short period of time, creating 3 mood boards and very little time to practice for the assessment, which I feel was overwarming, felt lost most of the time.
I feel the looks which are decided to create, the demos should be given and plenty of time to practice, but instead there has been no lessons planned, most of the time we worked self organized lesson as no teacher available or the lesson was cancelled. or just doing different practice altogether.
