Level 2/3 Diploma in Performing and Production Arts – (MMU) Project 4
VIVA – Questions
Name: Parveen Akhtar
Date: 17.March.2023
What skills do you feel that you have developed through this project 4?
I have gained skills of working as a part of team and on my own, This project is one of my favourite as it involved lot of make up ideas for Editorial, Fashion and Bridal. this project taught me the difference between the Editorial and fashion makeup, as Editorial makeup is makeup that is usually not worn everyday and used for magazine spreads and runway. Fashion makeup is usually for the magazines, parties etc and it involves clothing, jewellery and the foot wear. the skin is very flowless in both looks, so the skin prep is very important for flowless smooth skin. I got to use different products to create the look. Mood boards helped me understand and plan my looks better. I feel have become a lot more confident with the products use, the makeup blending, challenging hair style techniques and using digital space.
Please identify your key strengths of the overall project 4?
I feel this project has given be deeper understanding of how to create different looks, in different atmospheres, got to create different mood boards which has given me better understand of things to consider when creating a mood board such as nature, beauty, colours, textures etc. and luckily for me the family wedding abroad has come up at the right time, where I got to practice as my work experience with real clients, to create a bridal look.
Please identify your key weaknesses of the overall project 4?
As I am away most of the time on this project, I feel I didn’t get to see any demos of fashion and bridal in the class, therefore, I feel I have not produced the work to the standards that I wanted to produce on my favourite project, but I am happy with how much I have managed to do.
How effectively did you manage the skill building process?
I got to practice editorial look once in the class, but for the rest I have been away to attend the family Wedding, but I got the opportunity to practice on other family members, which helped me to build my makeup skills.
Can you discuss any key research sources which have supported your assessment process
Watching makeup and hair tutorials on Youtube and researching information on google are the main sources that has helped me to research for my project 4 “Editorial, Fashion and Bridal”. I have used makeup and Hairstyling books from the class to help me understand and gain some ideas of how to create hairstyles. I have also observed party and bridal hair styles during the Wedding.
How effectively did you apply the research?
Research helped me create mood-boards and search information about different Hair styles on google and youtube. It gave me a lot of information on Editorial, fashion and Bridal looks.
What have you learnt from this project which you will take forward on to the next step of your own personal development?
I feel I have become more confident with the makeup and Hair products and its using methods. Practice of Project 4 – creating looks and research on 3 subjects has further enhance my skills with my next project, I feel I can now look more in details of any research, creating looks and how to upload on digital space in details.
What have you learnt from this experience that you will apply in your future progression route?
I feel, I am more confident after project 4 research and practice., my vision of detailed close makeup/hair look observation has really proven, this will help me focus in more detailed research and create mood-boards with my next project to follow the plan accurately.
What can you do now that you couldn’t do when you started the course?
I can now use Digital space confidently, I can also research and create mood boards with minimal help. I have started to understand how to apply and blend makeup better
If you were to do the project again what would you do differently?
I like to be in work place for work experience , to get hands on practically on real clients, this will give me better understanding of makeup and boost my confidence to work in real world, .
Did you enjoy the process?
Yes, I have really enjoyed project 4, as I got to work on different skin tones abroad, I had the opportunity to work on different skin colours and types, in different weather and atmosphere. I feel this opportunity came up at the right time. Also the Asian Bridal show (runway) is happening in April 2023 which I feel has come up at the right time too, as this will make more sense to understand the catwalk and more fun to watch themes of dresses, colours and designs. but I feel I have missed out the class demo/ practice learning.
