What skills do you feel that you have developed through this project 3?

I have gained skills of working as a part of team and on my own, got to use different products to create the look. Mood boards helped me understand and plan my looks better. I’ve had a chance to have pictures taken by professional Photographer, I feel have become a lot more confident with the products use, the makeup blending, challenging hair style techniques and using digital space.

Please identify your key strengths of the overall project 3?

I feel confidant creating different hair styles and better idea of blending brushes. I feel I can communicate well with other students and everyone always there to help out one another. Get to practice on other students.

Please identify your key weaknesses of the overall project 3?

Not great with blending makeup. Need more information on full coverage foundation base and setting smoothly without blotchiness. more practice and of creating up to date hair styles and using correct hair tools. I feel I don’t always find someone to practice on the looks I need practice on.

How effectively did you manage the skill building process?

Practicing makeup on each other and on actors gave me confidence as a teamwork and build skills of applying and blending different products. I feel I can take the challenge now to work with minimal supervision, but I feel I don’t get to practice on someone, everyone is needing to do their own.

Can you discuss any key research sources which have supported your assessment process?

Youtube and google are the main sources that has helped me to research for my project 3 “Makeup for TV screen”. I have used makeup and Hairstyling book from the library to help me understand and gain some ideas of how to create complicated hair up do’s and watching actors performing on TV shows and Films also gave many ideas about the characters and what sort of look I can produce.

How effectively did you apply the research?

Research helped me create mood-boards and search information about different era Hair styles on google and youtube. It gave me a lot of information on fashion, the lifestyle of professional personalities. I also gained ideas of how the character can look with different Hair styles and makeup of that era.

What have you learnt from this project which you will take forward on to the next step of your own personal development?

I feel I have become more confident with the makeup and Hair products and its using methods. Practice of Project 3 – creating looks and research, will further enhance my skills with my next project, I feel I can now look more in details of any research, creating looks and how to upload on digital space more in details.

What have you learnt from this experience that you will apply in your future progression route?

I feel, I am more confident after project 3 research and practice., this will help me focus in more detailed research and create mood-boards with my next project to follow the planes accurately.

What can you do now that you couldn’t do when you started the course?

I can now use Digital space more confidently, apart from when it stops working and don’t have a clue how to fix it. I have also learnt and gained confidence in how to dress wigs and applying methods, which I didn’t know before, I feel lot more confident of improving applying primer and contouring as before I didn’t think it was very important steps or I just was not confident applying and blending it properly.

If you were to do the project again what would you do differently?

I wanted to ask my tutor and of course check with the model too if I could do skin prep by mini facial before the assessment to enhance the skin texture, also if the facial hair can be removed especially eyebrows tidying, as I have managed to arrange with my model for Bollywood film character to shape up eyebrows few days before the assessment just so the makeup application looks more enhanced, but her skin was still very dry.

Did you enjoy the process?

Yes, I have really enjoyed project 3. All the practice and demos gave me confidence of how to use different products not only makeup but hair too. I have had chance to practice on the project look, this has helped me to get other ideas of making advanced plans of prepping my model’s head turban, and shape the eyebrows using threading and tweezers, before the assessment time, as she has never tidied her eyebrows, working out which eyeliner settled better, as had issues with due to hooded eyes, the colour kept transferring on top lid, so settled with false lash and instant liquid liner. . However I feel it was too short in time and assessment for 2 looks in the short period of time, as didn’t have much chance to arrange time with an actor for the practice as she is art performing student and has her own projects to work on so was not available many times to come over. but over all this project looks were enjoyable as it is to my liking kind of makeup. am looking forward for the next project as it is my most favourite (Bridal).
