What skills do you feel that you have developed through this project?

I have gained skills of working as a part of team and on my own, got to use different products to create the look. Mood boards helped me understand and plan my looks better. I’ve had a chance to have pictures taken by professional Photographer, I feel have become a lot more confident with the products use, the makeup blending, challenging hair style techniques and using digital space.

Please identify your key strengths of the overall project?

I feel confidant creating different hair styles and better idea of blending brushes. I feel I can communicate well with other students and everyone always there to help out one another.

Please identify your key weaknesses of the overall project?

Not great with blending makeup. Need more information on full coverage stick foundation setting smoothly without blotchiness. more practice and ideas of creating hair styles and using correct hair products.

How effectively did you manage the skill building process?

Practicing makeup on each other and on actors gave me confidence as a teamwork and build skills of applying and blending different products. I feel I can take the challenge now to work with minimal supervision.

Can you discuss any key research sources which have supported your assessment process?

Youtube and google are the main sources that has helped me to research for my project 2. I have used the Victorian times makeup and Hairstyling book from the library to help me understand and gain some ideas of how to create complicated hair updo’s and watching actors performing A Christmas Carols in theatre also gave many ideas about the characters and what sort of look I can produce.

How effectively did you apply the research?

Research helped me create mood-boards and search information about Victorian era Hair styles on google and youtube. It gave me a lot of information on fashion, the lifestyle of Rich and the Poor. I also gained ideas of how the character can look with different Hair styles and makeup of that era.

Feel upset due to digital space not worked for weeks in-between, after hours of research and lot of my input my portfolio page didn’t get saved, much of the stuff slipped off my mind after, the feedback that I had uploaded for my project 1, didn’t get saved. It’s upsetting that there is no one for the immediate assistance. takes up too much time to go through all the pages and rethink what’s missing and research to upload again. I hope I don’t lose points for my project due to not enough said or upload when I have tried to do full justice, but digital space let me down.

What have you learnt from this project which you will take forward on to the next step of your own personal development?

I feel I have become more confident with the makeup and Hair products and its usage methods. Practice of Project 2 – creating looks and research, will further enhance my skills with my next project, I feel I can now look more in details of any research, creating looks and how to upload on digital space more in details.

What have you learnt from this experience that you will apply in your future progression route?

I feel, I am more confident after project 2 research and practice., this will help me focus in more detailed research and create mood-boards with next project to follow the planes accurately.

What can you do now that you couldn’t do when you started the course?

I can now use Digital space more confidently, apart from when it stops working and don’t have a clue how to fix it. I have also learnt and gained confidence in how to dress wigs and applying methods, which I didn’t know before my project2.

If you were to do the project again what would you do differently?

I wanted to ask my tutor and of course check with the model too (she has bright yellow outgrown coloured hair) If I could apply semi colour to darkened her hair to match the era, I am creating the hairstyle on, as in Victorian times the hair was more on darker side, blonde was not fashion at that time. But as she had allergic reaction to the spray, I dropped the idea of spray and just work with what is present available . If I could, I would change my both characters dresses, as it did not go with the look of the era.

Did you enjoy the process?

Yes, I have really enjoyed project 2. All the practice and demos gave me confidence of how to use different products not only makeup but hair too. I have had chance to practice on the project look many times, this has helped me to get other ideas of making advanced plans of prepping my model’s hair before the assessment time, as she has very thick and long hair which takes very long to prepare for the hair style, working out which eyeliner settled better, as had issues with due to hooded eyes, the colour kept transferring on top lid, so settled with false lash and instant liquid liner. Taking photo’s of my both actors together was good to see and match their looks to their roll. However I feel it was too short in time and all 2-3 mock assessment practice and final assessment was one after another continually in the same week, which was tiering and felt loosing interest of doing full hair and make up in the same process, as my model hade lot of hair which i found it very interesting but tiering of doing the same over and over. would have been good to break hair in one session and makeup in another during the practice, so we had more practice and less stress.
