Our project is a devised theatre piece with the stimulus of Sustainability. We have included dances based around sustainability and the potential dangers us a humans put on to the earth if we dont try to prevent natural disatsters happening through air pollution, global warming, fast fashion and carbon monoxide gases. Our performance is based around what the earth could potentially be like if we dont do everything we can to slow it down, for the future generations to come. We also show how the world could be if we do things such as recycling, putting our rubbish in the bin, not buying fast fashion and looking after our enviroment.
Definition :
sustainability
Sustainability is meeting the needs of the present without comprimising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
- Sustainability is doing what can be done to reduce the carbon footprint and reduce global warming
- to reduce the amount of waste that we use to have a lesser impact on the enviroment.
- To protect our eco system
- To use transport less such as cars, buses ect and walk/ ride a bike ect. to lower carbon monoxide
- To recycle more, things such as plastic, paper, cans to reduce the amount that goes to landfills.
- To take your rubbish and dispose of it in the correct way to have a lesser impact on wildlife and greenlife in woodlands and sea’s, rivers ect.
- Lesson what you are buying. Everything bought has a carbon footprint.
- To not use plastic bottles, cutlery ect and switch to reusables instead.
- Eat less meat as meat production causes greenhouse gas emissions, and is the cause of many habitats being destroyed for wildlife.
- Sustainability is protecting animals from extintion such as bees as they are very important to our eco system.
- sustainability is to reduce to amount of food that is wasted. When food is wasted the water, land and other natural resources are wasted that were a part of the production of the food we eat.
- By reducong the amount we buy for dates such as holidays/ birthdays/weddings and partys as alot of it goes to waste and just sits in landfills for years not decomposing, adding to our carbon footprint.
- To eat more organically things that can be grown and recycled.
- To greaten the amount of nature such as trees and plants to increase the amount of oxygen produced to allow for more habbitats and wild life.
- To lesson the amount of paper we use and waste: schools, colleges and workplaces to use the resources we have such as technology to send emails, to use worksheets ect.
- to not use animal based textiles/garments ( these fashions are extremly harmfull to wildlife and in some cases cause extinction) and following quick fashion trends resulting in clothing waste ( the production tbat goes into it and the carbon footprint ect that it leaves behind)
- Lessen water use ( water conservation) take shorter showers, choosing low flow and low water appliances.
- use less electric where possible turn off switches that dont need to be on, use energy saving lightbulbs and solar panels to recycle energy from the sun, make sure that your home has good instalation also.
- Use products that dont test on animals such as makeup.
- sustainability can also be using your voice and your right to vote and being a part in how your country is run.
What is devised theatre?
Devised theatre is when a group or company of preformers/artists work together colaborativly to create at show/ performance.
- devised theatre is often called a collective creation due to the fact that performers collectivly come together to creat a show or performance.
- When creating devised theatre cast members may start with a plot, a charecter, a theme ect.
- To understand the theme of the devised theatre that is to be created.
- Being open to other peoples ideas
>I will be using these techniques in my performance and have done alot of reasearch into our stimulus of sustainabilty to be able to really feel the actions, words or dances i am conveying.
Two theatre companys that perform devised theatre.
- The Paper Birds Theatre. – they create the work that they do is to encourage change, to give voices to to those who dont have one. To listen and give back to the people that they meet at shows and put their voices back into their work.
- The Redcape Theatre- They create the work that they do because they are commited to putting on performances that move a person who is watching it.
^Watching this piece above gave me a real idea of how a different stimulus can really change the atmosphere and how a person may act. ^
Devised theatre
Devised theatre is when a company of actors/ actresses work together collaboratively as a company to devise a peice and turn into a stage play. They come together and collectively create a peice on a concept or a shared message.

Devised theatre makes the audience think about the projected message that the theatre company is trying to get across. It can be meaningful and be focused on political subjects like social issues. Or it could be reconstructing dramatic or other forms of literature.
Every time a actor or actress creates a new character they devise. – who a character is, what their background is. What their story is, how they walk, talk and are in general.
Etienne Decroux was a french actor who was also the originator of the modern day devised performance. He was also a mime and educator.

The reasearch that i have done into this project has really helped me to understand the emotions, facial expressions and body language needed to convey the message we are trying to get across. How important it is to look after our enviroment and make a change now.
