project one:
These are some video’s of our reahearsals for our upcoming preformance.
In these clips myself and my classmates that are in my group choreographed and devised a dance piece with the given stimulus of trees that were burning most likely due to wild fires and just continuessly burning. We did our best to interpret how this may look translated into a dance and this is what we collectivly created. This is the first dance in our preformance that we performed in cannon with our other classmates.
We were split into four groups and perform in cannon one group after the other until all four groups have preformed, where we then all end up on the ground as if all of the trees have died.
This rehearsal video is of the whole group preforming in cannon with our seperate dances as i explained above.
This rehearsal link is about the first half of our perfomance rehearsals full run.
This is our rehearsal video for our dance “when i grow up” from the matilda musical movie. In these two dances we are trying to interpret how we are young children without a worry or a care in the world, how children should be versus in the begining of the show we portray young children who are all on their own with no one left in the world to look after them and only one precious toy left.
Research into our stimulus and different ways other companys/actors portrayed or represented sustainabilty and or the crisis we face as a whole population.
- I watched this short climate crisis film and I used this to spark ideas from.
- I liked the use of lighting that they used to represent different elements and I think that this could be used effectively in our production.
- In this short film they used the use of layering their lines over eachother, i think this is a great and effective way of keeping the audiences attentions. We are also going to be using this effect in our performance.
Risk Assesment:
- Risk assessments need to be carried out before and after performances in and around the stage- anywhere where the audience may have to pass through to access the performance this is to ensure that no performer, staff or audience is hurt or has the potential to be hurt. This risk assessment will included assessing the area to ensure their are no hazards or potential hazards that could cause harm. Assessing that the area surrounding us has no defects such as light that isn’t attached properly I.e this risk of it falling and hitting someone. This could be rectified by the lighting crew ensuring lights are fitted properly and there is no chance or risk.
- It is important to know where the exits and entrances are so that if a emergancy arose such as a fire we can quickly and efficiently ensure that everybody exits the building safely and goes to the correct fire assembly points. I think that where the assembly points are should be reminded to every member of the performance and also anybody else that is involved with the performance. Fire exits, assembly points and entrances should also be large and clearly put.
Production Risk assesment: Sustainability (we are worried)
performing date: The 11th Of October 2023/ 11.10.23.
Risk assesed on a 1-5 scale. One being the least amount of risk and five being the most.
| Hazard | Who is at risk? | Actions to be taken: | Likelihood (1-5) | Risk Rating? ( 1-5) |
| tripping or falling on props such as chairs, costumes, toys and lights. | All of the performers are at risk. | To ensure that props are properly stored behind stage and are moved when neccesary on stage to ensure the saftey of all performers. | 3 | 2 |
| Lights or speakers falling. | All performers, members of staff or parts of the crew who may need to walk across the stage. | To have enginers to properly check all equipment before shows are run and ensure that everything is safe and the way it should be ready to go ahead. | 1 | 1 |
| Fire. | Everyone who attends the performance including the performers, staff and audience. | Ensure that everybody knows where fire exits are and how to get to them in the event of a fire. | 1 | 1 |
Costumes.
I think that for costumes it would be good to use something that is recycled such as plastic such as bags ect, paper such as newspapers, paper ect. However as this is a devised peice we will be wearing studio blacks. Such as all black tops, legging, tracksuits and suitable shoes such as jazz shoes. We are wearing studio blacks because we want all of the attention to be on our performace as a whole and not any performer singulary. We will also not be wearing any thing ectra such as jewelery (necklasses, rings, bracletts ect) as this could cause a potential risk for my self or other performers. We will also have our hair tied back preferably into a slicked back bun as to not get in our ways during the performance.

I found these images on google to give an example of what our costumes/ studios blacks look like.
Props, Lighting and Set.
- For props we was will be using childrens toys and flashlights/ battery operated candles to represent children of the earth being essentially the last being’s on earth and the light shining appon them.

We will be using these particular props to represent the world having ended and the toys being the last thing connecting us to the past world and the lights represent the last light left, the last hope.
- We will also be using other props such as clothes to represent fast fashion and the waste caused by this trend, a car wheel to represent petrol vehichles and the gasses they produce and vapes to represent air pollution.
- For our set we will not be using any set background ect. As this is a devised theatre piece we do not use a background as we aim to portray what we are representing through our acting and dance pieces.
We also have no lights or background as to not distract from our peice simulary to the reason why we have no ‘costumes’ and will be wearing studio blacks as to not take away from our performance and only portray the message we are trying to convey through our acting, movements and lines.
This is a example of our studio and how it will look for our performance i.e blacked out for the majoirty of the show especially between scenes and to create an atmosphere.
I found this image on google to represent how our studio will look during our performance.

- Lighting that we will be using are going to be blacks outs to bring in the show and out. Flashing lights that will represent lighting/ thunder at the beginging of the show.

Marketing:
I would market our production with posters around the college and local area, with a online advert and by word of mouth. I would create tickets at a cost of £1 per ticket as it is a college production however the costs that were accumulated i would use to put back in to the arts department to be able to further imrove the department in the future.
I would ensure that marketing was done to make people aware our production is happening, what our production is and the message that we are trying to put across. So that our work isn’t a waste of time or efforts and is appreciated for all of the work put into it. So that sustainabilty is made aware to our audience and so that hopefully our message will have an impact on our audience, encourage them to make a change.
While dramatic productions frequently conform to a written text, it is not the use of such a text but rather the fictional mimetic (from Greek mimēsis, “imitation,” “representation”) nature of the performer’s behaviour that makes a work dramatic
I found this statement/ quote on an Internet page. It really struck with me how we could use this in our own preformace to make itthesbest that it can be.
These are the lines that i created for my self i.e my i am worried quote, my dear child of the future letter and fact in relation to our stimulus.
This is a screenshot of my notes of the lines i have learnt for my performance. To learn my lines/ script i have been writing them over and over around either on paper or in my phones note application. I have been reading them, covering them and saying to help me to learn them also. I have thought about the way that I will say my lines and what parts may need emphasis or exaggeration. I also highlighted my own lines to help them stand out from others lines when i worked with them on the actual copy of script I have.
