I enjoy listening to Charlotte Cardin's music as it presents the pop sound, however her style is completely unique and individual to her. I believe the way she uses her instrumentation to present her recognisable melody and chords is harmonic to listen to as she also uses the phrases of lyrics to present emotion. This is one of my favourite songs by Charlotte as it uses a lot of repetition to present an idea, she also uses fairly simply chords however in the song they match perfectly to her voice.
Halsey is a musician I admire as she song writes in a completely different style, as she tells her story within a song. I want to take inspiration from this by using poetry and evolve a certain story to match with chords to present a memorable idea, that is enjoyable and yet relatable. The way she also sings the lyrics within her songs also inspire me, as she sings certain phrases with aggression yet also happiness, within my songs I want to ensure that I place passion within my music to give the music more meaning.
Troye Sivan has inspired me for a long time to create a range of unique pop ideas. His approach to music has inspired me to create something memorable to the listener. His melodic ideas of repetition within phrases ensure that the listener will never forget the song. To do this can be extremely difficult when songwriting because it needs to match with the chord progressions and lyrics also need to represent something relatable to the listener to ensure that they never forget the certain melody.
film music
Both of the above music were composed by Trent Reznor (from the band Nine Inch Nails). His approach to film music, in my opinion, is emotional and moving. The way he portrays movement in his music makes the piece match with the visuals in harmony. He presents a variety of emotions which intertwine between fear and happiness and these placed together have inspired me to create music which both creates fear of what could happen Underwater yet happiness of memories and possibility of sheer beauty within relationships between two people.
acoustic
I am using this for inspiration for my Acoustic section of my EP as I am aiming for it to sound something like this. I can also look at the microphone techniques that he used for his recording and apply them to the way I set up my microphones for my Acoustic Recording.
