In this portfolio it will include how as a group and individually we organised and performed at the Charity Gig. The aim of the project was to raise money for a charity as well as gaining and developing skills of both organising a gig and performing. Within organising, my role was to create promotion and schedules; additionally I also had to get prepared for the performance. This live music performance would also further prepare us for future gigs and events.
The Lost Chord
The charity we decided to focus on was called The Lost Chord, this charity specialises in music as well as helping those with Dementia. The Lost Chord effectively performs at several elderly homes in the UK, including those with Dementia. We decided that this would be the best option, as when we researched charities involving music, The Lost Chord stood out. Not only because it is an incredible charity, but also because several members of our band had family members with Dementia.
Since ‘over 850,000 people’ (The Lost Chord, 2017) currently live with ‘dementia in the UK’ (The Lost Chord, 2017) we also realised that this wasn’t just close to our hearts, but close to many. Therefore by raising money for this specific charity, we realised that it would make a big difference to the thousands of people living with Dementia.
