Final Performance:

On the 17th of October at 6:30pm in the Henry Mitchell Hall we presented our Charity Gig.

This is the video footage of the gig:

The Charity Gig was successful in many ways including:
  • The bands performed professionally together with communication and stage presence with confidence.
  • The audience was engaged throughout.
  • Many tickets were sold which meant we raised a good amount for The Lost Chord.

Overall the atmosphere was positive as throughout we were enjoying our time performing as well as selling tickets and refreshments. All of the bands were professional and had good stage presentation as well as including a dress code for most bands of wearing black and white.

We felt positive about the outcome of the overall performance of the Charity Gig as we rose over £200. The audience also seemed to have enjoyed it as they were clapping along with the songs and overall engaging with the performance.

The Charity Gig was unsuccessful in many ways including:
  • We didn’t sell many refreshments.
  • The lighting was fairly basic.
  • There could have been a better projection.
  • We didn’t raise our targeted goal.
  • A spokesperson couldn’t make it to the Charity Gig.

Overall it was successful however these details could have perfected the overall performance and presentation of how the Charity Gig went.

Unfortunately we didn’t sell any cups of refreshments as in a way this was positive as the audience were more focused on the performance rather than buying refreshments however it would have been even more successful if we raised extra money for the Lost Chord by selling a few refreshments.

In addition the lighting did not improve from the Mock Performance as it was similar throughout however with fade ins and outs. Next time for future gigs we need to ensure that our lighting is improved. Moreover the projection shown behind us was basic as it included our logo. This could be improved by organising another student from the college to create a background for us.

We were also aiming to raise more money for the Lost Chord however since we didn’t sell refreshments and we possibly didn’t sell enough tickets, we didn’t reach our goal. However we still raised a lot of money for the Lost Chord. We were also hoping that someone from the Lost Chord would talk about the charity before the performance however I called them the day before and she announced that they couldn’t arrange it. Therefore we had a tutor explain about the charity beforehand and this informed the audience more about the charity.

My individual performance and the Cassettes performance overall included:
  • I remembered all the lyrics and chords and played them with confidence.
  • Our harmonies/vocals were well presented.
  • Our song choices/repertoire worked well.
  • We interacted with the audience, as we clapped during Sweet Child of Mine and the audience engaged with us.
  • We included original material.
  • The drums sped up The Chain slightly.

Overall as a band our performance went almost perfect, however we should have had more rehearsals including the drummer as when we played our first song from the set list, The Chain by Fleetwood Mac it seemed to be faster than when we had rehearsed it without the drummer. Apart from that our set list worked well and engaged with the audience.

My personal goal was to ensure that I memorised my lyrics so that if I got nervous I would still remember them, after doing the gigs beforehand I realised that this is what I needed to work on so that I was confident when performing.

Our set list also ran well and flowed from one song to the next, we also presented each song in before it was played and revealed a little bit about our song, this interacted with the audience even more.

We learnt a lot from this experience of arranging our own gig, and for future gigs we know how to evolve as musicians to showcase a better performance and develop our organisational skills. Overall the Charity Gig was a successful gig that raised a lot of money for charity; we are proud of the outcome and hope to present more Charity Gigs in the future.
