Promotion:

Within the weeks commencing of the Charity Gig we ensured that there would be as much promotion as possible. As part of my job role I had to create: Posters, logos and promotion material. This would then be presented on various social media sites including: Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

Here are some examples of the promotion I created on the social media sites:

As well as producing promotional material for social media and presenting it on there we also completed a few promotional events, these included:

  • Performing and promoting on BCB Radio (as seen in photos)
  • Placing posters around Bradford (Sunbridge Wells and Local Shops)

We firstly performed on BCB Radio on the 4th October to talk about our upcoming Charity Gig and we also performed The Chain by Fleetwood Mac. This was roughly a 15 minute interview in which we were talking about when, where and what our gig was about. I believe that this went successful and we even took a photo with the presenter afterwards. It was a new experience, which opened up opportunities in the future as we may be doing more radio experiences in the future. It was also good promotion for our gig as not only did we do the radio interview, but we performed which would have hopefully brought a larger audience to our gig, which as a result would raise more money for the Lost Chord. We also posted about it on our social media sites which meant that they could also listen to the radio interview after it happened on their website. On the 16th of October before the gig, we also went back to BCB to further promote our gig a final time. We performed the chorus of Don’t Let Go by En Vogue. This was with a different presenter at a different time, however we felt more comfortable this time since we had already experienced being on the radio and it gave us more confidence when performing and promoting our gig.

This is the evidence of the BCB Radio interview we did:

We also placed posters around Bradford. We firstly printed off 50 posters and placed them throughout Bradford College. After this we then went to the Broadway in Bradford however they declined that we couple place any. After this we visited Sunbridge Wells and they agreed that we could place our posters up, therefore we placed several throughout. We also gave one to the local shop so that they could place it in their window. I believe this was successful as we placed many posters up, creating more advertisement for the Charity Gig. Overall it taught us that promotion is important when preparing a gig, as it gains a lot of interest and it gave us lots of new experiences.
