PROMOTION:

I researched a variety of ways to promote an EP successfully. Some of the options that were suggested were:

‘Do a Live, Interactive Stream of Your New Album’ (Scarffe, 2018)

I have chose to include this within the promotion of my EP as it will ensure that I interact with my audience more and involve them in the process of the release. I believe it will also be a good way to explain my reasoning behind the songs and give an insight within the making of the EP, again to involve the audience/listeners.

‘Release a single’ (Bandzoogle.com, 2018)

I want to release the single ‘City of Street Lights’ as it will give an insight as to what the rest of my EP will be like. I believe this is a good opportunity to start to get people involved and interested in my EP and therefore make them want to listen as it will be a teaser for the rest of my EP.

‘Get your album up on iTunes, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, GooglePlay, etc.’ (Bandzoogle.com, 2018)

I want to ensure that I make the most of publishing my EP as I want others to have the availability to listen to it on their desired platform. This will ensure that I can get a larger audience.

‘Use your mailing list’ (Bandzoogle.com, 2018)

On my personal Wix Website I will be including an email list where people can sign up for more information. I will also be using a mailing list on my final gig as I will be releasing my EP after my final performance therefore I can notify everyone when my EP is released and other important information.

‘Promote your album on social media’ (Bandzoogle.com, 2018)

Using: Instagram and my Facebook page I will be including promotion to reach the online community again to get the most reach possible. I will be using the ‘pay for promotion’ to ensure that my target audience is reached and more people are aware and notified of my new EP.

‘Promote your album to radio’ (Bandzoogle.com, 2018)

I will be organising an interview to promote my EP on BCB Radio around the week of release or the week after, this will again ensure that more people are notified of the release.

‘Organise an album release show’ (Bandzoogle.com, 2018)

I will organise a final performance event to show the release of my EP, I have chosen to do this as it will evolve my mailing list and show what the music sounds like live. I also want to do this as I enjoy performing and want to include a final performance to showcase the development of the project and my ideas.

‘Create awareness for the album while it’s still in the works.’ (Warner et al., 2018)

Using social media such as: Instagram and Snapchat I will document snippets of work and ensure that my following is engaged and aware of my EP. For example I created a promotional video which included a teaser of ‘Music Coming Soon’ which was posted on my Instagram.

I also found a helpful website that included a timeline of promoting your EP and when parts of the promotion should be completed. Since we have a shorter timeframe to complete our EP this would not essentially work, but I could apply some of the promotional aspects to my promotion such as: Having a photoshoot done in advance and Radio promotion. This is the website I used:
