FEEDBACK
Final Performance Specification
My first section of feedback was about how I was going to present my final performance. Firstly I needed to take into consideration whether my Final Performance was going to be played acoustically or with a backing track. This would be possible to do it either with a backing track or acoustically as I can accompany myself on the piano. Therefore I have decided that for my final performance that I will do a mixture of both playing acoustically and with a backing track. When I have produced my EP, I will take this into consideration more and plan what my final performance is going to be like.
Genre
The next section of feedback I received was a question about what 'atmospheric' would mean for my EP. I suggested that it would take inspiration from the video which I played: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYG3iIcZOkw. This means that I would include synth and electronic sounds into my songs to make them more atmospheric.
Distinctive Style
One question which I was asked was 'How will I stand out as an artist?' I also included this question within my presentation, therefore I would also like to include a research element into other artists and how they stand out. I have already completed some research into other artists which has inspired me to be an individual and unique artist. One artist which has soon out with their music and visual elements is Viktoria Modesta : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jA8inmHhx8c.
I will research more into artists that use their identity to create a distinctive style. By the end of this project I will be able to answer this question after creating my EP and brand.
Research
The next section of feedback was about specific resources. I should have included specific examples of books and websites that I would be using to research. For example: Pitchfork- Online Magazine and the NME magazine. When I therefore complete my research I will include a bibliography full of specific sources and look into various resources to research.
Schedule
The next section of feedback was about when I was going to complete my artwork and whether my artwork would influence my music or my music would influence my artwork. My response to this is to attempt to complete as much artwork as possible before doing my music, for example: Photography, Logos and promotional images. This would then mean that I would be focused on creating specifically music within those couple of weeks. I also need to ensure that my schedule specifically states when I am going to do my artwork, music and promotion.
Losing sight of the music
The next section of feedback was a concern towards losing sight of my music in between the artwork and artist development. I believe that this could be a possibility, however I want to ensure that my artwork is nearly completed and my promotion is prepared before the music so that I can focus on producing the best music that I can. Therefore I should not lose sight of my music, as well as I will be releasing a single before I release the full EP to ensure that some music is out there before presenting my EP, this brings interest into the music of the EP rather than buying an EP based on the artwork and promotion.
Name/logo
On my questionnaire it includes logos which have the name 'SEZ' on each of them. This represents my artist name which will be used throughout my music, promotion and gigs/events in the future. This name is my nickname, and I like the fact that it is short and precise, however it also represents me as a person and my individuality.
