These are the bands that were going to be performing at the Charity Gig:
THE SKINS
RHAPSODY
THE CASSETTES
(THE SURGE)
However 2 weeks before the performance, The Surge said that they couldn’t perform for us, therefore to solve this we decided that only the three remaining acts should perform. The Surge was an external band that we thought would be ideal to also perform, it would have also meant that they could have possibly brought interest to our Charity Gig. Meaning there would have been a larger audience.
The remaining acts were all from college, The Skins and Rhapsody from the 1nd Year Music Course, and we were called The Cassettes and we’re in the 2nd Year.
All three bands had to prepare within 4 weeks.
The Skins and Rhapsody both had 5 songs prepared for the Mock Performance and we prepared 6 songs. This meant that our set list was slightly longer, and therefore we had more time performing on stage.
Equipment:
All the bands would be using most of the equipment stated above. Luckily the equipment would be provided for us, however we had to provide our own guitar straps and we could also provide our own guitars/microphones. The tutors helped us to set up the equipment both on stage and off stage. This helped us gain understanding of what everything could do (especially the mixing desk.) The tutors let us control the sound in one of our rehearsals via the mixing desk; this ensured that if we had future gigs of our own, we could use a mixing desk and pa system ourselves. In addition if we wanted to arrange another Charity Gig we could organise it ourselves and use the equipment as needed.
