Health and Safety:

Risk ASSESSMENT

Risk                           Possibility Prevention Likelihood

Tripping over equipment

Could cause sprains, breaks or minor injury.

Severity: Minor-moderately severe.

We made sure that wires are taped together and are noticeable. We also took caution whilst walking and moving on the stage. Likely to occur

Hearing Damage

Could cause hearing loss in the future.

Severity:

Severe if it continues to occur.

For rehearsals:

As we are playing an acoustic set, which meant that it didn’t include drums, we didn’t use them for practice due to ensuring that the overall volume was not loud. This included either not using microphones at all, or turning them down.

For Final Performance:

We did not do this in our final performance however for future performances we will supply earplugs to prevent hearing damage.

Likely to occur, but easily prevented.

Repetitive Strain Injury

Could cause muscles problems/strain in:

-Hands

-Voice

Severity:

Moderately severe and not easily prevented if there are multiple performances.

We ensured that we did not over practice and we also did vocal warm-ups before rehearsing and the Final Performance. Likely to occur. But with warm ups included, less likely.

Lifting Heavy Items

Could cause back problems/strain in your body.

Severity:

Severe

We ensured that there was control of who was moving the equipment and where. We also made sure that multiple people transferred larger pieces of equipment.

Whilst lifting heavier items we also ensured that our knees were meant and our backs were straight.

Somewhat likely due to the amount of equipment needed to be lifted.

Crushing (in larger venues)

Could cause injury due to being crushed in a crowd or by equipment. – Major injury.

Severity:

Severe if there is likeliness of it occurring.

We ensured we knew the capacity of our venue and ensured that we had a rough idea of how many people would be in the audience. To also prevent this we ensured that the seats were far enough from the stage and the equipment. As well as making sure that the rows of seats were set out so that there was easy access to and from each seat. We did this by adding an aisle in between the two sections of chairs. Unlikely to occur.

Electric Shock

Could cause severe injury from ‘burns’ to ‘neurological effects.’(Health Guidance, 2017)

Severity:

Moderately severe

We ensured that only bottled water was on stage during any rehearsals and the final performance. Fairly likely to occur.
