Recording

We got put in groups of three or two to record each band. To get myself prepared for that i had to research for example microphone techniques, the difference between a condenser and a dynamic microphone and how to mic up amps and instruments.

My recording group was Finlay and Harry. Before the band came we had to mic up all the instruments and amps. We started off as a group, by getting all the mics and leads out. Harry set the microphone stands for the drum kit for me. I then put all the mics on the stands for the drum kit and got the stands for the guitar and bass amps. I miced up everything whilst Harry and Finlay were setting up the mixing desk and i then wrote down what went in which channel. Whilst we was sound checking, a minor problem occured, as Finlay accidentally didn’t plug the vocal microphones to the mixer. But we dealt with that problem quickly.

Evaluation
Strengths – We miced everything up correctly and he room was tidy after micing up. We dealt with minor problems quickly and professionally.

Weaknesses – I believe that we had organisational issues. If we came in slightly earlier, we would of finished micing everything up before the band arrived. Some leads were too short so i had to switch them around a few times and if we came in at least 10 minutes earlier that would of been done before the band arrived and there would be less stress.
