The songs that we chose and the order they went in

Riptide – Vance Joy
The original song

Where is the love – Black eyed peas
The original song

All along the watchtower – Ed Sheeran and Devlin version
The original song

Ms Jackson – Outkast
The original song

7 Nation army – The white stripes
The original song

The reason we chose the song ‘riptide’ is because all of the band members knew the song very well. The time signature for this song is 4/4. This song originally isn’t as upbeat as we performed it, so we changed the tempo of the song. An upbeat version of this song kept the audience engaged. The structure of the song is verse, pre chorus to chorus twice then the bridge and ending the song once through the verse to chorus. On the bridge of the song we changed it and all the instruments dropped out where only the guitar and piano were playing and accompanying the singer then they all came back in for the last verse to chorus.

The reason we chose our second song to be ‘where is the love’ is because this song was performed at Ariana Grande’s ‘one love’ charity concert for the people that died at the Manchester terror attack. We thought this would be suitable for our charity concert for people with dementia. The time signature for this song 4/4.
The structure of the song is verse to chorus where Ant Henderson raps for the verse and I sing for the chorus.

We chose our third song to be ‘all along the watchtower’. This song is a upbeat song so it kept the audience engaged and the crowd enjoyed the song. The time signature for this song is 4/4 and the song structure goes from verse to chorus where Ant Henderson rapped for the verse and I sang the chorus and the first verse. At the last verse all the instruments dropped out and only the bass and piano was playing to accompany the rapper and then all the instruments came back in to finish the song of with the chorus twice.

Our forth song ‘Ms Jackson’ was chosen by our tutor as he thought it would rhythmically challenge all of us especially the rapper. The time signature for this song is 4/4 and the structure is verse to chorus where Ant Henderson is rapping for the verse and Lea O’Calleghan sings the chorus. After last chorus all the instruments drop out harry plays the synth and I come in to sing the chorus twice, then all the instruments come back in and Lea sings the last chorus and the song gradually faded out.

Our last song ‘7 nation army’ was also chosen by out tutor. This song was meant to challenge us and keep the audience entertained. The time signature of this song is 4/4 and the structure is verse to chorus and the well-known riff of the song is the chorus. We changed the song where Lea O’Calleghan sings the first verse and Ant Henderson raps the second and third verse. For the chorus I sang the riff instead of the guitar/bass riff. And just before the end we aged a guitar, bass and drum solos, then the song ended with one last chorus.
